We are getting excited as the Frome Festival is nearly here, 7-16th July 2017. We've really enjoyed looking through all the wonderful events going on in our vibrant town and thought we would share with you some of our highlights.
We know we will be enthralled and tickled by Gyles Brandreth’s musings taking place at The Memorial Theatre on Friday 7th July 7.30pm. Gyles Brandreth Blah Blah Land
It’s hard to beat nosing around people’s gardens, so we are very much looking forward to the annual Hidden Gardens which takes place on 7th, 8th July and 9th 11am-5pm. We love what these talented gardeners create, some in small spaces, some with the addition of amazing sculptures, one thing we know is it’ll be inspiring and charming as always.
It wouldn’t be the festival without going to the Food Feast with fabulous food, great music and street theatre! Even in the rain this is guaranteed fun, we love this evening event where we get to sample lots of delicious food from local vendors, we’ve even been known to have a flash mob, so keep your eyes peeled.
Frome Open Studios is a feast for the eyes and we know this year will not disappoint, with lots of artists we enjoy seeing every year they’ll also be lots of new talent too. You can pick up a brochure from around the town, in particular Black Swan Arts. Or alternatively you can download a guide from the festival website www.fromefestival.co.uk
Celebrate the honey bee and see developing bees in the comb as well as stored honey and pollen. We’d love to have a go at this Beekeeping Taster Session on Friday 13th July.
In the building we call home; Black Swan Arts there will be chance to reflect and share your response to the visual art exhibitions on display. There’s also the wonderful Art Car Boot on Sunday 16th July in the car park of Black Swan Arts. Come see the fabulous makers in the studio shop, take a break and have some scrummy refreshment at Divas cafe, oh and pop and say hi to us in the shop too!
This is a very small selection of events, you could literally fill your diary for the 9 days. Remember though, tickets for popular events sell out fast, so get booking now. There will be lots of activity and fun around the town, it’s a great time to see Frome at its very best.
