SEED's Frome Festival Picks
From the 1st to the 10th of July, Frome will welcome the summer months with a festival all of it's own. Frome Festival always offers a wealth of activities, events and various other delights, this year is no exception! From Pee Wee Ellis to Hidden Gardens there really is something for everyone. Here at SEED we've been excitedly scouring the brochure and have put together our top six picks for 2016's Frome Festival.

Silk Mill1. Roti Shack at the Silk Mill

What festival is complete without food? Why not kick off your Frome Festival with a trip down to the Silk Mill on either of the festival weekends. Roti Shack will be serving a deliciously authentic range of food from West India, Jamaica, Barbados and Cuba. Fresh seafood, rum soaked ribs and mango fries, who could ask for more? This is a family friendly event and free to enter.

2. Evolver Prize 2016 at Black Swan Arts 

This year Black Swan Arts are delighted to be hosting the Evolver Prize 2016 during the festival period. Artists of all varieties will be competing for the chance to appear on the cover of the July/August edition of Evolver magazine as well as a cash prize. Running from the 2nd-10th it is a must-stop for every art lover.

3. Festival Jazz Monday at The Artisan

On Monday the 4th, The Artisan will open it's doors to host a variety of exceptional Jazz and Blues musicians including Jelly Roll Morton, George Gershwin and Festival regular Bob Brace. The kitchen will also be open for food as well as the terrace BBQ and pizza oven. There is also an evening event starting at 7.30pm.

4. Last Tree Dreaming at Frome Museum Frome Festival

Celebrating Selwood Forest, this exhibition at Frome Museum, will feature a range of events including the very first screening of the 'Last Tree Dreaming' film on the 2nd at 11am, various talks from local historians and the chance to try your hand at printing using the museums historic Harrild hand press! As part of the exhibition, local historian Michael McGarvie will also be leading a walk from Gare Hill to Alfreds Tower on the 6th.

5. Book Lovers' Quiz at The Cornerhouse

Described as a light hearted quiz for serious book lovers, here is the chance to brush off your Dickens and Tolstoy to find out if you can win the title of Frome Festivals Bookworms 2016! There is limited space at this event.

Frome Food Feast6.  Frome Festival Food Feast in The Market Yard

Always a popular event during the festival, this year the Frome Food Feast will be held on the 2nd of July and is promised to be bigger than ever. A huge range of tantalising dishes are available as well as market stalls, live music and street theatre. Of course, we have only touched on a handful of the events that will be happening, why not check out the Frome Festival website, or pick up a brochure, for the full, fab, line up.
