We are very excited here at SEED, only a few days before the Frome Festival and wow, there is so much to see and do this year! Looking through the programme and the highlighter is out! We have picked a few things which we don’t think you should miss…

FROME FOOD FEAST

Saturday 4th July 17.00- 22.00 Cheese & Grain – Market Yard – Free

Live Music from Acoustic plus, Mosi Conde , Sam evans and Plume, a children’s area and a fantastic selection of food stalls offering a range of global cuisines, all made with local ingredients.  We can’t think of a better way to spend a summer evening. If it does rain, it will all take place in the Cheese and Grain, so there no excuse not to go and enjoy all the scrumptious food on offer.

COSI FAN TUTTE

3rd/5th/ 26th July 16.30- 20.00 Cooper Hall at Selwood Manner  – £25.00

The Cooper Hall Emerging Artists Opera Workshop collaborates with Bath Phil to present opera in the beautiful grounds of Selwood Manor. This year Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte will be the production. This is a great introduction to opera and a fantastic new production for those already familiar.

HIDDEN GARDENS

10th/11th/12th July 11.00- 17.00 All around Frome, £4.50 for Hidden Garden guide (Available from Cheese & Grain, Library and Enigma gallery in Frome)

This is a lovely way to spend a few days,  after the success of last year, the Hidden Gardens are now open for three days of the festival. A rare chance to see a wide range of beautiful gardens and allotments, normally hidden from view. All the proceeds from the tour go back in to supporting the festival.

THE HOOSIERS

Friday 10th July 20.00- 23.00 Cheese & Grain – £17.50

After a number one album and two top ten singles, you will not want to miss The Hoosiers!  This is set to be a great show at the Cheese & grain.

SHIRLEY COLLINS: AMERICA OVER THE WATER

‘Shirley Collins, one of England’s greatest cultural treasures’ Billy Bragg

Folk legend Shirley Collins shows off her memoir ‘America over the water’ with company from Pip Barnes. This visit comes a week after celebrating her 80th birthday at the Southbank center in London. One not to be Missed.

FROME OPEN STUDIOS

Renowned for its high standard of work, the Frome Open Studio tour is well worth investing some time. With the tour stretching to the villages surrounding Frome, there is plenty to see. Don’t foget your purse or wallet!

SUMMER ART CAR BOOT

12th July 10.00-16.00 Black Swan Arts Free

Over 50 artists and designers showing off their work , from ceramics to textiles. This is a great opportunity to meet them face to face and quiz them on their products. Pop in for refreshments in Divas cafe and then come browse our shop and say hello.

WORKSHOPS AT THE BLACK SWAN ART GALLERY 

During the festival there is also a whole host of workshops which you can get involved with including perfume making and stone carving. ‘Words at the Black Swan’ is a interactive poetry and short form writing workshop which is being held at the Black Swan Art Gallery.

The workshop is in response to the exhibition ‘Postcards from an ordinary childhood’ by artist Mel Day. This exhibition is open Friday 3rd of July and the whole building will be open including SEED, 6-8pm with alcohol being served in the café along with live music in the courtyard. A great way to kick off the festival…
