Mark is influenced by two main subject matters: The first being the immaculacy of the female form and movement of water. The second is the paradoxical individuality which is found within things that appear similar or the same. Traditional Japanese style and the precepts of Zen also feature strongly in Mark’s work. Simplicity is what he works toward, but as he acknowledges this is often the most difficult thing to achieve.
