Can you tell me a bit more about yourself and why you began designing? I think my friends would say, and I agree, my favourite pastime is daydreaming which has been true since I was little. If I can daydream and doodle a day away I am my happiest. I wouldn't say I ever consciously began designing it's just something I have always done. According to my parents when I was a sproglet I was drawing or building from things I found as soon as I could hold anything and certainly before I could even talk.

What's your finest moment so far? Having a rummage in Charles Darwins archives for the first time at The Natural History Museum was a real honour and somewhere I go now whenever I can for inspiration as its such a privilege to be able to be allowed into his world on my doorstep

Do you listen to music when you are working? If so - who are yourfavouritebands / singers to have on in the studio? As loud as possible! Love Rolling Stones

What advice do you have for aspiring artists? Think it, say it, do it.

If you weren't Rory Dobner-the artist, what do you think you would be? I would love to teach art to littleys. Selfishly just love playing and getting paint splattered all day long with not a care in the world!

What is yourfavouritebook? Can I cheat and say my adult colouring in book that I am working on at the moment for Laurence King Publishers?

Do you think artists are born or made? Born but everyone is an artist of some kind for sure.

What's your motto for work? Making memories

What are your hobbies? Aside from drawing every waking moment, adventures with my children, surfing, scuba diving and refurbishing a finca in Ibiza built in 1560 which I have a slight obsession with since buying as building restoration is such an art form as well as trying to grab sleep even if still standing. We will be featuring Rory Dobner and his striking work for the whole of July. Make sure to keep an eye on our social media feeds to catch more glimpses at these wonderful, quirky pieces.
